Meigs County schools are known for their high marks, small class sizes, and modern facilities. There are three school districts that serve Meigs County – Meigs County Schools, Eastern Local and Southern Local. All three have received excellent performance ratings from the state.

In 2009, the University of Rio Grande opened the Meigs Center, which opened a world of new local education possibilities for residents. The local campus has grown to an enrollment of 300. The facility has the resources to customize workforce training programs to meet the needs of employers.

Meigs County is just a half hour drive from Ohio’s second largest university – Ohio University in Athens. Offering 250 major degree programs, the institution has an enrollment of 20,000 students. This proximity to the university provides Meigs County with the benefit of jobs for many county residents and the ability to be close to technology.
